Black cumin oil is one of the most diverse vegetable oils with more than 100 valuable ingredients. It is obtained from the seeds of Nigella sativa, which is grown mainly in Egypt. The flowers of the plant form a capsule when ripe, which contains differently shaped black seeds. Black cumin has been used medicinally for thousands of years, especially in the Arab world, due to its high content of essential oils. The oil is said to have positive effects not only on health and well-being, but also for beauty. The high content of unsaturated fatty acids, especially gammalinonlenic acid, ensures that our body functions well. Since it is not able to produce unsaturated fatty acids, it is important to take them in with food.
We obtain our black cumin exclusively from certified organic farms in Egypt. Once in the Allgäu region, the precious oil is gently separated from the solid component and collected in leisurely rotating screw presses at low temperatures. The rest of the seeds form the so-called press cake, a popular ingredient for animal feed.
